Resource scheduling, particularly the time of
key personnel, is a vital component in the continuing success of IT company
Elonex. With a range of high profile customers, including government departments
and councils, the company relies on being able to meet deadlines.
Its 20 or so consultants design and build IT
solutions and are supported by sales people, account managers and field
engineers. But until implementing Wallchart®’s resource scheduling software, the
company’s ability to pull all these resources together depended on a solution
that, according to Project Manager Jonathan Raine, “failed to give an overview
of our business and had no reporting function whatsoever”.
That’s all changed. With Wallchart®’s software
configured to suit Elonex’s business needs, including extra fields for
customised reporting, the company is scheduling consultants, engineers and
regular contact staff more efficiently than ever before. It’s also using
Wallchart® to book specialist equipment for customer installations.
Elonex can now see immediately when there are
free consultant slots, as well as confirmed or tentative installations, and who
to reschedule in an emergency. Wallchart® also enables the company to track the
progress of all projects underway. In one instance, Elonex used Wallchart® to
perform an audit trail of cancelled appointments and identified a customer who
had agreed 300 appointments but only kept 100.

our business by geography and project requirements, and we can focus on our
objective of completing 95% of installations on time.”
